Donald L. Francis, Sr.

Donald L. Francis, Sr., 82, of Elimsport passed away on, July 2, 2018, his 63rd wedding anniversary, at Muncy Valley Rehabilitation Center, Muncy, PA.   He was the second son of the late Paul A. and Bessie (Nuss) Francis, Sr. He married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Alter, on July 2, 1955 and was married for 56 years before her passing in 2011.

Don attended Williamsport schools. He was a laborer during his life working at numerous area factories; swinging shifts for twenty-five years at National Gypsum in New Columbia. He was an athlete in his youth hitting thirty-five home runs in the Original Little League. He loved his dogs: Jeff, Mandy, Tammy, Suzy Q, and Sam. He loved taking day trips with Shirley, visiting relatives and watching the Yankees and Penn State. He was a dutiful caretaker of his beloved Shirley after her stroke in 1995. He had an uncanny memory of all his relatives. He was a Christian.

He is survived by four sons and their wives: Kevin L. and Kathy Francis of Cogan Station, Kurt P. and Stephany Francis of Sunbury, Donald L. and Katie Francis, Jr. of Dalmatia, and Xavier (Scott) A. and Traci Francis of Williamsport; nine grandchildren: Erik, Bethany, Matthew, Charity, Daniel, Andrew, Ashton, Andrew, and Jordan, and nine great grandchildren, brother Paul A. and Rita  Francis, Jr. of Williamsport, close relatives Rod and Betty Gohl of Montgomery and Barbara Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandson Trent Francis.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday October 6 at the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, Rt. 44. Interment will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, PA. Arrangements are made by Sanders Mortuary, Ltd. 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport, PA.
