Dinah M. (Hargrave) Kiessling, 82, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Born July 8, 1941 in Roanoke, VA she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Richey) Hargrave.
Dinah married her favorite person, William P. “Bill” Kiessling on June 23, 1962, and together they created a beautiful life, sharing 57 years until his passing on April 17, 2020. They were the parents of Marcia S. Davis (Steve) of McElhattan, Patti J. Kiessling of South Williamsport, Dana M. Moser (Gregg) of Watsontown, and William P. Kiessling, II (Christina) of Muncy, all who survive her. Dinah was the beloved Grammy to Tricia A. VanCampen (Josh) of Montoursville, Corey J. Finn (Brittany) of Culpeper, VA, and Garrett S. Moser (Gabby) of Watsontown. Surviving in addition to her children and grandchildren are her sisters Judy Kovich (John) of Williamsport and Stephane Norman (Mike) of Rome, NY and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Michele.
Dinah was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a former member of the choir for 30 plus years. She also sang in the Women’s Harmonia Chorus. Dinah loved music, especially classical.
After High School, Dinah was employed by L.L. Stearns & Sons as a cashier and eventually was promoted to the executive offices. She was employed there until she married and started her family. Then she worked off and on at several part time jobs. However, mainly, she was a homemaker.
As her children started school, she was employed at St. Boniface Elementary School as the secretary. Eventually she was employed as secretary to the administrator at Bishop Neumann High School. Later, she was employed as the Project Manager at Williamsport Manor and then worked at Regscan, Inc. until her retirement.
Dinah’s hands were rarely still, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, word searches, puzzles and painting. Yet, above all these pursuits, Dinah's heart belonged to her family. Her unwavering care for their daily lives, her boundless love, and her ever-present support were the cornerstones of her existence.
Her favorite companions have been 19 dogs throughout the years, with the “best of all”, Leo, her Doberdoodle, her best friend, who left in 2019 with her and Bill by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10 until the time of service Thursday at Church. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
The family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made in Dinah’s name to St. Boniface Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
