David Allen Way

David Allen Way, known affectionately as Dave by his friends and family, of Sayre, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at UPMC of Williamsport. He was the loving husband of Kathleen “Kathy” (McCoy) Way, who together, would have celebrated 43 years this October.

Born on October 5, 1958, in Williamsport, Dave was the youngest of 14 children of the late William Thomas and Helen (Powell) Way.

Dave graduated from Williamsport Area High School, class of 1976. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he dedicated many years to Stroehmann Bakeries where he excelled as a Senior Operations Manager. He was a hard worker, not just in his career but in every aspect of his life, putting his whole heart into everything he did. His Christian faith was important to him and he attended Crossroads Family Ministries in Sayre. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in the pleasures of fishing and hunting, often recounting tales of his adventures and the one that got away. His hands were rarely still, as he was also a skilled craftsman in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his attention to detail and patience. Dave also enjoyed coin collecting and on Sundays during football season, he could be found cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears. Those who knew Dave will remember him as a master storyteller. His anecdotes, often filled with humor and warmth, were not just stories; they were a window into the rich tapestry of his life. From his childhood escapades to his many hunting expeditions, Dave's stories will continue to resonate and bring smiles to the faces of his loved ones.

Dave leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Kathy; three sons, Jeremy Way, Jason Way, and Josh Way; one grandson, Liam Way; three brothers, Ron Way (Mary Ann), Rick Way, and Bob Way (Pat).

Along with his parents, Dave was also preceded in death by 10 siblings.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
