Darrell E. Crawford, 74, of Williamsport, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at Edenbrook South.
Born August 19, 1951, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Koehler) Crawford.
Darrell was a man whose presence could fill a room long before he ever spoke. In his early years, he carried a rough, no‑nonsense exterior, but those who truly knew him understood that beneath it lived a heart of gold. He was the kind of man who championed the underdog, often helping others even when it came at a cost to himself. His generosity showed up in countless ways, whether fundraising for nearly any cause that crossed his path or hosting event after event at his beloved bar, Ron’s Tavern, where friends and community always came first.
In his later years, Darrell found a second home among his friends and staff at Edenbrook South, where he was deeply loved and known for being “out and about” more often than not. He thrived in the simple joys of daily life—gardening, spending time outdoors, playing bingo, enjoying live music, and welcoming animal visitors. But nothing lit him up quite like hosting card games. Teaching others the many card games he knew was one of his greatest pleasures, and he took pride in bringing people together around the table. His warmth and attentiveness extended far beyond recreation; he checked on fellow residents and staff with genuine care, treating everyone like family. His charm and kindness were so widely felt that he was even crowned Prom King at Edenbrook South, a testament to how cherished he was.
One of the greatest joys of Darrell’s life was spending time with his longtime girlfriend and partner, Birgit Krape. Their bond was a steady source of comfort, companionship, and love.
In the last few years of his life, Darrell experienced a profound spiritual return, coming back to Christ with sincerity and devotion. He prayed for his friends at the rehabilitation center and carried his renewed faith with humility and gratitude. This chapter of his life reflected the depth of his heart—one that had always been tender beneath the tough exterior.
Darrell is survived by his children, Candy Marie Crawford and Darrell Marchant; his wife, Carrie Marchant; and his grandchildren, Xander Marchant and Alice Marchant. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Wenger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Henry Crawford and Jeff Crawford.
Darrell leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, humor, generosity, and love. He was a man who lived fully, cared deeply, and made sure the people around him felt seen and supported. Those who knew him will remember not only his grit and strength, but the kindness, laughter, and connection he brought into their lives.
He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with great affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
