Daniel L. Metzger, Sr.

Surrounded by His family Daniel L. Metzger, a cherished husband, father, and Pappy peacefully went home to be with Jesus while at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville on April 8, 2025, at the age of 70.

Born September 15, 1954 in Jersey Shore he was a son of the late Freeman Metzger and Marvine (Taylor) Roupp. Daniel was known for his remarkable Strength of endurance. He triumphed over numerous surgeries and health challenges that would have overwhelmed many, showcasing an extraordinary strength, unwavering faith, and a determination to embrace life fully, serving as a testament to God’s grace and healing power. which earned him the nickname "The Miracle Man."

In times of adversity, Daniel’s life was transformed by placing Jesus at the center of his journey. He found a spiritual home at River Valley Church, where he discovered renewed purpose and deep peace in his faith. His steadfast commitment to Christ and his church family inspired all who encountered him, as he shared a powerful testimony of redemption and hope.

Throughout trials, His faith remained unshakeable.

Dano “as his wife affectionately called Him”, loved his family immeasurably; providing unwavering love, guidance, and support to those he held dear. His legacy of faith, love, and strength will endure through his children, grandchildren, and many generations to come.

Additionally, Dano had a love for the outdoors, particularly as an avid fisherman, hunter and Motorcyclist.  well-known for his exceptional trout fishing skills. He cherished the many hours spent casting his line, and always bringing home supper…

Other than his immediate family, Dan was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, whose loyalty, kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 33 years, Melissa M. (Lose) Metzger; children, Kristie Hamilton (Dennis), Danee McGill (Bart), Daniel L. Metzger, Jr. (Stephanie), and Nathaniel Metzger (Melissa); 10 grandchildren, Cody Selleck (Michaela), Kyle Selleck, Gordon Metzger, Dezman Mitchley, Samantha Mitchley, Casey, MaKayla, Tatum, Maverick and Martin Metzger; 3 great-grandchildren, Bryanna and Stella Mitchley and Cooper “Jack” Selleck; siblings, Larry Beaver (Cindy) and Tammy Rafter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in the passing of his two siblings, Gary Metzger and Deb Koons.

A funeral service to honor Daniel’s life will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 11 at River Valley Church, 470 Pine St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Burial will follow in Woodward Township Cemetery, Linden. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at church.
