Connie Elizabeth Vogel, 86, passed peacefully at the Gatehouse at UPMC Divine Providence on May 9, 2025. Connie was born January 26, 1939, in Williamsport, the beloved only child of Delos and Evelyn (Frymire) Stugard.
Connie was a South Side girl and graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1956. She worked at Sylvania in Montoursville and later for Dr. Carl Albright Podiatry.
Connie was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Paul Vogel. They shared a beautiful love story. She was a faithful, patient, and loving caregiver. A true team, Connie and Paul created a beautiful home together. They shared a love of Penn State football, made many wonderful family memories, and, in their younger years, loved to travel, with trips to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and even a road trip across the country with a young son in tow.
Connie was a lifelong active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Her faith was steadfast and strong. She was a nearly 60-year member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi holding various leadership roles over the years. Through the church and the sorority, Connie made lifelong connections while serving the community. She was a volunteer at the Community Arts Center for many years. Connie was a living example of unconditional and true friendship, finding sisterly bonds with countless friends.
Connie took great pride in her family. She adored her children and grandchildren. Blessed with the gift of gab, she would lovingly share the details and happenings of her loved ones. She was an astute and engaged grandmother. Connie found great pleasure following Izzy’s basketball career, watching Brady navigate the big city, witnessing Eric becoming a successful business owner, and seeing Michael become a loving and devoted father. Connie possessed a gentle spirit and an overwhelmingly kind heart. She was a blessing to all who were privileged to know her.
Connie is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her two sons, Francis “Skip” Vogel (Kathy) of Southport, NC, and Matthew Vogel (Christy) of Harrisburg; four grandchildren: Michael (Sara), Eric, Brady, and Izzy; and one great-granddaughter, Iris.
A celebration of life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 17 at 11am with a luncheon to follow at the Holiday Inn Williamsport at 100 Pine Street. Wear something bright and cheery to honor our dear Connie.
Thank you to the caring doctors and nurses at the Gatehouse who cared so lovingly for Connie during her final days. We are forever grateful.
