Clyde Quimby Obituary

Clyde E. “Sonny” “Johnny” Quimby, 85, of Trout Run, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.  Surviving is his loving wife, Nannette B. (Hakes) Quimby, with whom they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 10.

Born July 19, 1935, at the Williamsport Hospital, he was a son of the late Franklin E. “Jack” and Emma A. (Moore) Quimby.

Clyde was a lifetime resident of White Pine where he was a lifetime beef farmer in Cogan House Township. He was especially proud of his beef cattle, black angus bull, and calves that he raised on his farm. He was a 1953 graduate of Liberty High School and a member of the White Pine United Methodist Church. Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he received an honorable discharge and then later served in the Army Reserves. Clyde retired from Alcan Cable after 30 years during which, he also hauled cattle to livestock markets for neighboring farms. He was past President of Roaring Run Hunting Club where he was a member for many years.

Clyde was a hard worker and provided for his family. In his free time he enjoyed listening to country western and polka music, going out to eat, square dancing, playing cards with family and friends, and reading the newspaper. With the help of his wife Nannette, they planned the Liberty High School class of 1953 reunions.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Patricia A. Moon (Jeff), of Lisbon Falls, ME and Robert E. Quimby, of Trout Run; two grandchildren Kyle Pepperman (Mandie), of Marshfield, ME and Josh Pepperman (Justine Young), of Montoursville; two great-grandchildren Ryder and Anson Pepperman; three step great-grandchildren Dwayne, Sabine, and Savannah Young; a sister Delores Vonada, of State College; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Douglas Vonada.
