Clyde Jerome De Cuio Obituary
Clyde Jerome “Jerry Dee” De Cuio, 74, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully and comfortably on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Geisinger Hospital, Danville.
Born August 28, 1951 in Dubois, he was the son of the late Mauro Joseph, Sr. and Evelyn Adair (Ward) De Cuio. His family moved to Nisbet when he was 7 years old.
Jerry was a Class of 1971 South Williamsport Mountaineer. In Junior High, he played football and enjoyed wrestling until the music bug bit him. Another teenager changed by the Beatles. He became a singer, both lead and backup, and learned to play drums.
Jerry has played in such local bands as Tony Caschera’s VIPs, Country Gold, The Bird Dogs, Bedlock, Johnny Jolin & Blackjack, and Hard Rock & The Prisoners.
Being a member of the local musicians union in the 1970s, Jerry was sent on the road as a hired gun as needed, often, as a band member backing major label talent. During this time, he met a number of nationally famous acts.
He loved cars and spent years in automotive restoration. He worked on many award-winning show cars alongside his friend and employer, Dan Plankenhorn, Sr.
Jerry worked at the Community Arts Center for its first seven years. He found the work to be interesting and the house to be beautifully restored. He wore many hats during that time, such as stage hand, soft goods manager, fly rail, personal security and ending his time there as head carpenter.
Jerry liked to read, especially biographies and was an avid history buff. He was infatuated with flying machines and loved to fly small planes with his brother Sal, a licensed pilot.
During his life, Jerry donated thousands of hours of his time and talent to raise funds for beneficial organizations. In keeping with that tradition, the Gift of Life Donor Program will allow Jerry to help others one more time.
Jerry especially loved animals. He would gravitate to anything with fur or feathers. He claimed he could befriend any dog, and since all dogs go to Heaven, I think we know where to find Jerry.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Gene Blake and Maurene J. Rhine; two brothers, Joseph Mauro De Cuio and Mauro Joseph “Sal” De Cuio, Jr.; nephews: William Dahl and Dillon Torok; father-in-law, Richard Torok; and brother-in-law, Don Caldwell, Sr.
Surviving is his wife of 27 years, Lori (Torok) De Cuio; sister, Patricia J. Caldwell; aunt, Jennie Di Marco; mother-in-law, Patricia Torok; sisters-in-law: Yvonne Steinruck (Tom) and Jennifer Snauffer (Ken); brother-in-law, Jimm Torok (Lisa); nephews: Donald Caldwell (La Donna), Phillip Dahl, Vincent and Dominic De Cuio, Tommy Steinruck, Sr. (Cassie), Jeromy Steinruck, Blake Torok, Austin Benfer (Molly), Owen and Colin Benfer, Raymond and Timothy Blake; nieces: Tina Dahl, Amanda Beiler (Levi), Victoria Blake; grand-nephews: Matthew and Tyler (Amanda) Caldwell, Aiden Beiler, Alex and Chase Benfer, Laynden Steinruck, Jordan and Paul Gephart; grand-nieces: Ella Beiler, Ava and Hazel Steinruck, Braylee, Sofia, and Aurora Benfer; great-grand-nephew, Benji Caldwell; and great-grand-niece, Lucy Caldwell.
It was Jerry’s wish that there be no visitation or memorial service, preferring that his friends and family remember him in life and the time they spent together. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport.
