Charlotte Forsyth Obituary

Charlotte “Dolly” (Lehman) Forsyth, 95, of Montoursville, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas D. Forsyth, who preceded her in death in 2001.

Born on April 4, 1928, in Pine Grove, she was the only child of the late Charles F. and Leah Margaret (Anspach) Lehman. Dolly attended Mahonoy High School, where she was proud of placing Homecoming Queen and advancing a grade, graduating early. She was very talented and diligently worked, holding many careers including owning and operating Forsyth Motel and Mobile Home Park with her husband for many years. Her super intelligence and wealth of knowledge shown through with her ability to beat anyone who played her in Jeopardy. Dolly enjoyed reading thrillers and romance novels, and solving crossword puzzles. She valued her time spent playing cards and Yahtzee with her friends at Parkside Manor.  If she wasn’t playing games, Dolly was watching and rooting for her two favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers or Penn State. Above everything, she loved her family, and in her Christian faith, would pray every evening for the people in her life.

Dolly is survived by her four children, Theresa DeTato of Montourville, Leah Lockard (Robert) of Williamsport, Peter “Pete” Dolan (Holly) of Lock Haven, and Charles “Chuck” Forsyth (Michelle) of West Chester. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Travis (Courtney) and Dana DeTato, Emily and Payton Forsyth, Chris (Barbara), Cory (Nicole), and Aaron Lockard, and seven great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Dolly was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vern DeTato.
