Charles J. Tacka, 81, of Bastress passed peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at home with his loving wife by his side.
Born December 13, 1941 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Pawlak) Tacka.
Charlie graduated from Williamsport High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Charlie was a loving husband to his wife, Carol A. (Lorson) Tacka, whom he married July 11, 1970. Together they spent 53 years, creating a life by each other’s side.
Charlie worked at Frito Lay for 26 years until retiring. After retiring he worked at Pennsylvania College of Technology and St. John Neumann Regional Academy. He was a member of the Polish Club and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
In his early years, Charlie was an avid hunter and softball player. He was an enthusiastic fan of Dale Earnhardt, and watching NASCAR. Charlie had an uncanny ability to find humor in any situation, making those around him feel at ease with his witty comments and jokester personality.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Joey Tacka of Florida and Amie Tacka of Oregon; two siblings, Rosemary Moore of Jersey Shore and Dr. Francis Tacka of Dallas, Tx; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Bastress, with The Rev. Bert S. Kozen, celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charlie’s name to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Williamsport, PA 17702 or Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o Home Care & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
