Charles E. “Charlie” Dincher, 82, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the Gatehouse. He was the husband of the late Sharon K. (Carver) Cornell Dincher.
Born April 12, 1941, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Elmer and Beatrice (Valego) Dincher. As a young man, Charlie’s first part-time job was helping his grandfather, Jacob Dincher, run the family business, Dincher’s Meat Market, in Williamsport. He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Williamsport, and proudly served in the U.S. Army. After retiring from GTE Sylvania in 1987, Charlie decided to go back to work, and became a greeter at the Walmart in Mansfield, making many friends there throughout his twenty plus year career.
Charlie had many collective interests, from beer cans and trains, to die-cast model cars and Elvis memorabilia. He enjoyed hunting and traveling, particularly bus trips to New York and Atlantic City, and cruises with his late wife, Sharon. Charlie enjoyed watching The Three Stooges marathons with a barrel of Middleswarth chips every Saturday, and he had a huge heart for animals, especially cats. His fun, loving, friendly spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are two daughters, Beth Ann Dincher (Chuck Boroch) and Elaine Butler (Brian); four grandchildren, Brianna, Olivia, Brandon, and Brittany; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Sophia, and Carson; one sister-in-law, Dorothy (Garvey) Dincher (John); one niece, Cynthia Field (Jeff) and their two children, Andrew and Kevin; one nephew, Jerry Dincher; and his beloved cat, Star.
Along with his parents and wife, Charlie was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Dincher.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
