Carl John Fila, 98, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Carl is reunited with his late wife of 59 years, Helen L. (Buss) Fila, who preceded him in death on March 3, 2010.

Born January 28, 1927, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late George and Aniela (Sudol) Fila.

Carl was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School and then received a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College. He spent his career as the owner and operator of Fila Construction Company, Inc. Carl was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was always happy to lend a helping hand at church.

Carl is survived by three children, Connie McLaughlin (Mike), Alan Fila (Jeanne), all of Williamsport, and Karen Galante (Edward), of Skippack; three grandchildren, Christy (Danny), Brian (Samara), and Eric; as well as six great-grandchildren, Michael, Madeline, Carlie, Keelie, Cammi, and Kolby.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Carl was predeceased by four siblings.

A funeral service to honor Carl’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S Howard St, South Williamsport, PA 17702. Burial will follow in Elimsport Cemetery with military honors provided by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. A reception at the church will follow the burial. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carl’s name to Messiah Lutheran Church.
