Bonita A. “Bonnie” Katz, 80, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bernard R. Katz.
Bonnie was a woman of grace, creativity, and deep compassion. Alongside her husband Bernie, she co-owned Le Chocolat in Williamsport for 28 years, where she not only built a business but created a place filled with warmth, sweetness, and community connection. She proudly served her community as a Williamsport City Councilwoman, first elected in 2012, dedicating herself to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
She had a true love for life’s simple and beautiful moments. Bonnie found joy in reading and had a deep appreciation for theatre, always enjoying the magic of storytelling and performance. She also had a passion for serving her community and an incredible eye for beauty and creativity, which she expressed through her stunning balloon and chocolate arrangements, her love of Christmas, and even in the smallest details, like always having her nails beautifully painted. Everything she touched carried her signature warmth and elegance.
Above all, Bonnie’s greatest love was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and loved ones were the absolute lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Bernard (Dawn) and Brian Katz; two grandsons, Chance Katz (Angela) and Kevin Katz; one granddaughter, Cierra Katz (Mike); and one great-grandson, Solomon Katz.
Services will be held privately.
