Beverly Louise Troutman, 86, formerly of Cogan Station passed away, Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Green Ridge Village in Newville. Born June 26, 1939 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha Hartman.
Six years ago, when she was 80 years old, one of Beverly’s granddaughters asked her, “What is the best thing you ever did in life?” She said, “Marrying my sweetheart, having all the kids, and spending time with my grandkids.”
Bev’s sweetheart was Gene Troutman. The two met as students at Williamsport Technical Institute. Their first date was a ride in Gene’s motorboat, which he later sold to buy her an engagement ring. They were married on January 9, 1965, and shared 52 years together until Gene’s passing in 2017.
Their love story grew to include five children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Beverly loved life on their farmette in Cogan Station, where she tended the garden, took walks on the lane, collected wildflowers, and enjoyed quiet moments on her porch. A lifelong animal lover, she especially adored her (too many to count) dogs.
A woman of deep faith, she was a long-time member of the Christian Church of Cogan Station. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crafting, folk art painting, refinishing furniture and bargain hunting. She was also an excellent cook and baker who liked treating people to their favorite meals and desserts. Bev had a quick wit. Sometimes sweet and sometimes spicy, she was always ready to make people smile and laugh.
Above all, Beverly treasured time spent with her family and friends. Surviving are her children: Michelle Keyser (Jeffrey) of Dillsburg, Craig Troutman of South Williamsport, Scott Troutman (Carissa) of Dillsburg, Tanya Shipman of Harrisburg, and Jason Troutman of Lewisberry; her grandchildren: Matthew, Morgan, Zachary, James, Nicholas, Ethan, Katelyn, Olivia, Avery, Blake, and Riley; and seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bev was preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew Troutman, and her siblings, Floyd Hartman and Arlene Hartman.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport, PA. A funeral service to honor Beverly’s life will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a short graveside service at Wildwood Cemetery.
In memory of Bev, hug a dog, eat some cake with extra icing, or visit someone you haven’t seen or heard from in a while. Memorial donations may also be made in Beverly’s name to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701 or the Alzheimer's Association, Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
