Betty Rechel Obituary

Betty J. Rechel (Mom, Gram, GiGi), 98, of Williamsport, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

Born September 6, 1921 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Henry Clay and Clara (Steinhilper) Tomlinson.

Betty loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them at "the cabin" along Loyalsock Creek. Many wonderful memories were made there with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and beat everyone pitching horseshoes. Betty would tell you she lived to be 98 because of time spent there and a good martini. She had a devilish laugh that was contagious. When she laughed everyone laughed.

Betty loved animals and had dogs most of her life and a cat last. In her spare time she enjoyed doing needlepoint and bowled in a bowling league for almost 50 years.

Betty was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Kimble (Scott) of Williamsport, and Barbara Rechel of Cogan Station; three grandchildren, Dustin Kimble (Ashley), Travis Rechel (Kristie), and Nathan Kimble. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Addison and Griffin Kimble, and Teagan and Kieran Rechel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rechel, of 55 years; a son, Michael Rechel, and Ralph Palmieri; also a brother, William Tomlinson.

A private graveside service to honor the life of Betty will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Betty's name can be made to The Gatehouse, C/O Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701, or Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
