Betty J. English

Betty J. English, 87, a lifetime resident of Nisbet, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Valley View Nursing Center.

Betty was born August 10, 1937, in Williamsport. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Lena (Hostrander) English and sister of, Esther, Milford, Paul and Frank English who all preceded her in death. She is survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Betty dedicated her life to serving others with a loving heart and kind spirit that touched all who knew her. She was well-known for her friendly demeanor and her unwavering commitment to her family, church, and community.

For many years, Betty diligently worked at Weldons and retired from West Pharmaceuticals, in Jersey Shore. Betty was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and recently attended Community Baptist Church.

Betty's role as a caretaker was a testament to her selfless nature. She lovingly looked after her mother and sister, providing them with support and compassion during their times of need. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family as she volunteered at Valley View Nursing Center. It was there that her efforts were formally recognized when she was honored as the volunteer of the year in the PACAH volunteer of the year program in 2006. Betty's interests and volunteer work were a reflection of her character—loving, kind, and friendly.

A funeral service to honor Betty’s life will be held 1 p.m., Friday, October 18, at Sanders Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Friday at Sanders Mortuary. Burial will be held privately in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Nisbet Volunteer Fire Co., 166 W Village Dr., Nisbet, PA 17702.
