Bessie M. Edwards

Bessie M. Edwards, 90, of Cogan Station, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at WeCare Sycamore. She is forever reunited with her beloved husband of 38 years, Charles L. Edwards, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1992.

Born March 8, 1935, in Linden, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (Hughes) Pepperman.

Bessie was a 1953 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. She had a love for antiquing and visiting thrift stores, always finding beauty and value in hidden treasures. Bessie, alongside her beloved husband Charles, devoted her life to the family farm in Salladasburg where together they worked tirelessly for many years. Their days were filled with the rhythm of farm life, tending to their herd of milk cows and nurturing both the land and their growing family. Bessie took great pride in the values that farm life instilled. Hard work, faithfulness, and love were lessons she carried into every aspect of her life.

Above all, Bessie’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment shared with her children and grandchildren, finding her truest happiness in the love and laughter they brought to her life.

Surviving are four children, Carol L. Matlack (Mark), of Muncy Valley, Yvonne M. Metzger (Eldon), of Linden, Robert L. Edwards, of Jersey Shore, and Cindy L. Williamson (Russ), of Cogan Station; a sister-in-law, Donna Allen; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband and her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by a son, Wayne C. Edwards, in 1984; a grandchild, Andrew Edwards in 2005; and sisters, Florence Robertson and Margaret Harer.

A funeral service to honor Bessie’s life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 12, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. A viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service, Sunday, at Sanders.

The family extends sincere appreciation to her grandchildren, Jenna and Chris, for the loving care and gentle compassion they so selflessly gave to Bessie during her later years.
