Barbara Knittle Morrone, 75, of Williamsport passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her beloved husband of 52 years, Frank Morrone, II, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2019.
Born February 6, 1948 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Joanne (Bishop) Knittle.
Barb was a 1966 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Elmira College. Her professional journey began at the Old Corner Kitchen where she worked until her desire to help others led her back to school to earn her nursing degree. In 1983, she graduated with honors from Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing. Barb then dedicated her life to the care of others, working at Divine Providence Hospital and Leader Nursing Home. Later, she started her own workers' compensation business, Morrone Case Management. Above all else, her most cherished care giving role was to her husband until his passing. Her dedication to him was a testament to her unwavering love and devotion.
Outside of her professional life, Barb had an array of interests that brought joy to her life and those around her. She was an active member of a women's club where she enjoyed playing bridge with close friends. She also loved playing mahjong, knitting, cooking, baking, and gardening. Her love for travel often took her to new places, but she held a special fondness for the beach, particularly Cape May, where she found peace in the rhythm of the waves.
Over the years, Barb opened her home and her heart to family and friends alike. There was always room at her table for one more. She took pleasure in your success, appreciated your journey, and remembered your favorite cookie. If you had the privilege and good fortune to know Barb, or better yet, to be loved by Barb, then you experienced her kindness and generosity first hand. She will be missed by so many, and will be remembered always as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and friend to all.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanna Morrone; a son, Francesco Morrone, III; daughter-in-law, Melissa Morrone; her much loved grandchildren, Livia Nash, Victoria Morrone, Maia Morrone, and Francesco Morrone, IV; siblings, Lois Grieco (Anthony), Nancy Sawhill (Howard), Marc Knittle (Mimi), and Tammy Bevan (Mark); loving aunt, Susan Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lia Francesca Morrone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd, Williamsport. A time of visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. Monday at the church.
