Arnold Taylor Obituary

Arnold Duaine Taylor, 70, of Cogan Station, a respected local business owner, mentor and friend to many, and a man who’s work ethic was unsurpassed, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2025. He left this world working hard and doing what made him happy, which was finishing a job well done, making something look more beautiful, or creating a more functional space for whomever needed it, especially those he cared about most.

Arnold was born and raised on a farm in Cogan House Twp. and graduated from Liberty High School in 1973. Soon after he told his family, “I’m going to buy a truck, get married and get on with my life”. And at 18 years old, he bought his first truck and got to work. In 1985, Arnold and his cousin Ray Messner started Taylor and Messner Trucking. Eventually they would dissolve the partnership, and Arnold and Grace would start Taylor Trucking Co., which they ran together for many years. Taylor’s Creekside Tires and Repairs was formed when he turned the business over to his son Jesse running the repair shop, his daughter Amber running the tire business and more recently his grandson Alex working there through the Diversified Occupations Co-op at WAHS. In his “retirement”, he returned to his farming roots and re-established Taylor’s Farm Market. With help from his daughter Mackensie, he grew his own vegetables and provided home grown produce to the Cogan Station community. The farmstand became a regular spot for locals who would often stop by for a friendly chat on their way home from work. Arnold also developed another property in Cogan Station, affectionately known as “The Land”, where he could run his equipment and enjoy the freedom of doing what he loved, with the help of many great friends.

Arnold took his time away from work to spend on the golf course. He spent many years golfing with his father Leon, in the Tuesday night Fun Time League, where he created bonds and friendships that have lasted to this day. He and Grace were devoted sports fans of their children and grandchildren. They got so much joy out of seeing Braedon’s countless baseball and football games over the years. He loved the Colts but joined in on the rivalry his dad, and brother Leonard, had between the Cowboys and Redskins. Arnold enjoyed going to Fraley’s Auction to browse big equipment and watched “How It’s Made”, fascinated by how things were created on a grand scale…but mostly he ONLY watched Westerns. His latest love was his yellow lab, Bubby, who rode alongside him in his buggy, truck and all the equipment. Bubby was his trusted companion these past few years.

Arnold was so proud of his family. He was always there to support and provide anything to make their dreams come true. They were his greatest devotion and motivation in life. Having Little Jesse and Braedon working with him up at “The Land”. Buying Abigail that pony she wanted so badly. Watching Little Jesse graduate from Penn State. Seeing his children take over the family business. Working with Mackensie on her projects and in her own gardening endeavors. Seeing Sam, his son-in-law, become the man that he is today. Being a part of his daughter- in-law Kathleen’s wonderful and loving family. Having John to fix anything and everything he broke. Arnold and Grace’s 51-year marriage has been the foundation of it all.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leon and Ruth (Holcomb) Taylor and his brother and wife, Leonard and Sonya (Kanouff) Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Strasburg) Taylor; his three children, Mackensie Polys (Samuel), Amber Taylor (John Harkey) and Jesse Taylor (Kathleen); four grandchildren, Jesse, Braedon, Alexander, and Abigail, his nieces, Amanda and Alyson and close friends Shelly, Todd, Betsy and Ronnie, Clyde, Sid and many others.

Those who knew Arnold, or “Arnie” as many called him, will remember him for his strength, integrity, honesty, experience, vision, influence and above all, his Love. We who loved him will carry him with us always, in everything we do, and will hold solace in the fact that he will be cheering us on and that his gifts of knowledge, hard work and persistence will live on through us, our children and their children, and his Legacy will endure.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Arnold’s life will be held at Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church this Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Arnold would have appreciated contributions to The Ronald McDonald House Hershey, 745 W. Governor Rd, Hershey, PA 17033; a special place that provides comfort for families during unexpected hospital stays.
