Albert William Kelley, 89, of South Williamsport, died peacefully Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Heritage Springs Memory Care. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Marcella Ann (Schlee) Kelley.
Born October 6, 1934, in Muncy, he was the son of the late Wilber George and Mary Eldora (Young) Kelley. Albert graduated from Williamsport High School in 1954 and immediately enrolled in the United States Air Force to serve his beloved country. On July 10, 1955, while still serving active duty, he married his true love, Marcella Ann (Schlee) Kelley. After honorably completing his military service, he and Marcella settled down and began a family in Williamsport. There Albert started his long and successful career in the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 1994 as a Flight Service Chief.
Albert was very active in his community, often volunteering his time. He was someone you could rely on when you needed a helping hand. Albert was a Mason at the Ivy Lodge #106, a part of the bowling team for the Polish Club, a member at The Grotto, and a volunteer for Southside football as a member of the chain gang, spending over 40 years there.
His favorite past time was playing cards, usually knock, rummy, or setback. He would play almost every evening of the week with his friends at different locations throughout Williamsport.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons Timothy Kelley (Lisa), Steven Kelley (Mary), Kevin Kelley (Jean); seven grandchildren, Megan Hoover (Patrick), Chelsea Charles (Jeremy), Nicole Keen (Scott), Kayla Kelley, Karoline Kelley (Zachary McKenzie), Kristina Kelley, and Jared Kelley; as well as three great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Ellis Keen, and Naomi Charles; one brother, Don Kelley; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Kelley.
Along with his parents, Albert was also predeceased by two brothers, John (Jack) and Jim Kelley; a sister, Shirley Wagner; and a brother-in-law John Wagner.
A memorial service to honor Albert’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S Howard St, South Williamsport. The family will receive friends prior from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at church. A luncheon will follow the service.
