William J. Murray
September 26, 1925 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years OldWilliam J. Murray, 92, of Williamsport, died peacefully at his home Monday, Nov. 6, 2017.
He is survived by his wife Nicolina (DeRubertis) Murray, whom he married Oct. 5, 1973.
Born Sept. 26, 1925, in Bayonne, New Jersey, he was the son of William John and Elizabeth (Gacca) Murray.
William served in the U.S. Navy (Amphibious Force) during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of Normandy and received two bronze stars for his service. He was a life member and 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed collecting cuckoo clocks and always had an interest in automobiles.
He worked in the management of electrical motors and generators for General Dynamic and retired after more than 30 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two grandchildren, Tony Fiorini (Maureen), of Conn. and Nick Fiorini (Dani), of South Williamsport; three great-grandchildren, Maddy, Patrick and Caroline.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Lawrence A. Fiorini.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William will be held 10 a.m. Friday, November 10 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
