Uncle Tom was wonderful, my favorite houseguest when I was growing up. He had a sweet sense of humor, could rib little kids and laugh at everybody's jokes.
No blue-jeans or tee-shirts for Uncle Tom - he was always a stylish dresser. Once I set the woods near my parents' house on fire during one of his visits, and he was out there stomping flames with his $300 dollar shoes. Nice uncle - he probably wanted to kick me with them later, but refrained. (He had an even temper: I never even saw him cross.)
Uncle Tom and Aunt Clara were also my godparents, promised to step up if anything happened to my parents. Mom and Pop couldn't have made a better choice. I miss him.

Uncle Tom was such a genial fellow, very pleasant to be around. My dad, his brother Pete, said he had a great mind for math. He even kept the accounts of all his newspaper customers in his head. Amazing! I wish we all could have seen him one last time.

My Uncle Tom was like a second father to me - an important male adult and role model in my youth. He was always quick with a gentle laugh and ready to talk sports with his nephew. Tom Judd made my world better as I know he did for others. He will live in our memories.
