Steve visited the residents of the Elmcroft Nursing Home in Williamsport every month where my mother-in-law resides. We were fortunate to have been present when he visited several times. Oh, he was so caring and special to each resident. He made a point of personally greeting each one ; offering a handshake, a hug, a kind word. He was so special and his ministry will be sadly missed.

Steve was scheduled to sing at our home on Friday, December 15. I had tried calling him several times earlier in the week to confirm; his voice mail stated, "This voice mail box is full. Cannot receive new messages." I was a little concerned at that point, wondering if he was okay...wondering if he was not, how would we ever know? And so, just now, I Googled his name and to my sorrow, I saw his obituary. I am heart-broken. Our residents truly loved Steve; he was the exact person that the obituary described. He and I often had some philosophical discussions on life. One of them involved, in essence, we need to live each day to the fullest, i.e. "take the plastic off the lampshade." Well, he loved that phrase, so much so, that he had written a whimsical song about it and was in the process of fine tuning it. I am so glad to have known Steve; he was unique and I am drawn to that type of individual. We also had deeper discussions on faith and God. I believe the car accident he had over a year ago was a defining moment in his life. I pray that in his final moments he saw the Hands of Jesus reaching out and saying, "Come on home, brother. We need a guitar player at the banquet!" With Utmost Respect and Gratitude, Brenda J. Yaple, Activity Director at Bonham's Nursing Center, and Friend Steve.

I just learned of Steve's passing yesterday and was surprised and quite sad to hear this news. My mother is a resident at Hearthside in State College. Steve came there once a month. Mom and a lot of the residents always looked forward to seeing him. His singing and interaction with these folks was wonderful. Aside from his musical abilities he touched the hearts of all who were able to attend his shows. He always made sure to speak to each person at the end of his show and gave out hugs and handshakes all around. He was so warm and caring. That great smile and those blue eyes looked directly into the eyes of those he greeted. My deepest sympathies to Steve's family. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Steve.

On behalf of all the residents and staff members at Rose View Center I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Steve. Working in the recreation dept I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve for over 10 years. He came out to RV every month and played for our monthly birthday party. Our residents truly loved him and looked forward to seeing him every month. He always to took time to speak to every resident and was so kind to all of us and he will not be forgotten. God bless you all and know we are thinking of you.
