Ruth A. Guillaume, 74, of Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.
Born July 16, 1942, in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Peach) Kinney.
She was a devoted and loving mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend. She was very proud of her children, loved being a "nana" to her grandchildren and was so excited to become a great grandmother to her three great granddaughters. She had a love of baking and cooking, and spent hours preparing for family dinners, picnics and fundraisers. She was a devoted Earnhardt and Washington Redskins Fan.
Ruth was a volunteer for many years to help support the local community and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life; she loved working with friends to create a world where cancer will no longer threaten our loved ones. She also supported the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
She was a graduate of South Williamsport High School and received a diploma in computer programming from Williamsport Area Community College. Ruth retired from the former Susquehanna Bank as a computer programmer. Her favorite past time at the bank was a little friendly competition of dressing up for Halloween with her friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Christina Butler (James); son, Leland Guillaume (Robin); daughter, Corinna Guillaume; grandchildren, Leiren Pantages (Dean), Morgan Karr (Evan), Cody Butler, Madison Lloyd, Daniel James Guillaume and Leighann Guillaume; great grandchildren, Lyra, Violet and Elara (whose beautiful and numerous photos can been seen all over her house); a brother, Walter Kinney, of Williamsport; and three sisters, Marion Tedesco, of Williamsport, Gloria Gary, of Huntersville, and Lori Manning, of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews too numerous to list but not forgotten
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons; a sister, Shirley Kontz; brothers, Raymond, Donald and Ralph Kinney.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Ruth's life will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 100 Walnut St., Montoursville. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A visitation will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday prior to Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society 1948 East Third St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements entrusted to Sanders Mortuary. www.SanderMortuary.com.
She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Thank you to all of our family and friends for the love and joy you brought to our mother's life.
