Ona B. Gunter, 94, of Williamsport passed into heaven on August 21, 2018 after a brief illness.
She was born on February 15, 1924. Ona was born on the family farm at Estella, PA and was
the second of six children of Lynn and Grace (Brown) Boyles. After her graduation from
Loyalsock High School in 1941, Ona was employed at Sylvania in Montoursville for almost forty
years. After her retirement, she and her husband, Andy, spent winters in Plant City, Florida.
There she enjoyed many activities including square dancing, country music, volunteering for
various organizations, and playing cards.
She is survived by her children Sandy Rose of Williamsport, Mary Rose-Colley (Rob) of
Loyalsock Township, Louis “Rick” Rose (Suzanne Pryor) of Cogan Station and Randy Rose of
Trout Run. She is also survived by a daughter in law, Lyn Parker Poust. She leaves
grandchildren Vanessa Colley, Jerry Rose, and Brittany Parker as well as six great grand
children and one great, great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Dora McCarty
(Laverne) of Forksville and Rita Thomas of Binghamton, NY. Ona also leaves many special
friends both in Williamsport and Plant City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Gunter, an infant
son, Karl, and her siblings Beltha Kobbe, Torrance and Sheldon Boyles.
Services to celebrate the life of Ona will be held at the Millview Wesleyan Church 6575 PA
Route 87, Forksville, PA 18616 on Saturday August 25. Friends will be received at 10:00 prior
to the service with the service beginning at 11:00. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery in
Forksville. A memorial service will be held in Plant City at a later date.
