Nancy Lee (Martin) Vassallo

Nancy Lee Vassallo, 87, of Williamsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018.  She was  surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 20, 1930 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late James and Phyllis (Staley) Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Daniel F. Vassallo on February 21, 2000.

Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was a member of Buchanan Baptist Church, TPA, and the Newberry Lioness. Nancy enjoyed playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, and going for car rides to look at God’s beauty. She was a volunteer for many years at Williamsport Hospital and also volunteered reading to kids at Jackson Elementary School. Her greatest love was being with her family and she was always willing to babysit her grandchildren.  

Surviving are five children Penelope L. Cappa (Dave) of Cogan Station, Daniel A. Vassallo (Nancy) of Williamsport, Dean F. Vassallo (Sharon) of Williamsport, Patricia A. English (Clyde) of Williamsport, and Candice M. Schneider (Steve) of Williamsport, a daughter-in-law Candace L. Vassallo of Duboistown, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a sister Sandra Morse of Williamsport.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Joseph J. Vassallo on January 8, 2015, Baby Boy Vassallo, and three brothers Robert, Dale, and Donald Martin.

A funeral service to honor Nancy’s life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Sanders Mortuary.
