Myrtle "Mert" E. Lapp, 99, of Williamsport, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Lapp Sr.
Born March 15, 1920, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late George and Estella Taylor.
Mert was a graduate of South Williamsport High School. She was a sweetheart and had a love for cooking and baking that extended past her career of over 20 years as head cook at Sycamore Manor. She could also be found going to yard sales, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or teaching them how to fish. Her raisin-filled cookies, sticky buns, ham pot pie and homemade family recipes will be passed through generations.
She enjoyed canning for many years with her sisters and brothers. After her retirement, she still continued to can with her baby sister Maryann, her nephew Terry, and his wife Barbie in the old out-kitchen. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her son, Randy L. Lapp, of South Williamsport, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Connie Lapp, of Cogan Station, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Lapp Jr., and Shane Lapp, and 13 siblings.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
