Mildred Jean (Moyer) Hostrander

Mildred Jean Hostrander passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on January 2, 2019, after a short illness. She was born on October 12, 1926, the youngest child of Dreese Lester Moyer and Stella Mae Rhoads Moyer.

Friends and acquaintances knew her as either Millie or Jean. She was a fantastic cook, baker and seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes. She worked at Sylvania and later at Shop Vac. In her later years she enjoyed traveling, adult coloring, word puzzles, and continued to cook and sew for her family. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years.

She is survived by her children, Patricia L. Bowman of Williamsport, Gayle E. Ranck (Scott) of Valrico, Florida and Craig D. Hostrander of Stonington; grandchildren, Brian T. Zimmerman, Jeremy Hostrander, Jennifer Ranck, Lisa Ranck Dennis, and Timothy Ranck; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, LaVern L. Hostrander, a son Barry W. Hostrander, four sisters and one brother.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mildred will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hillview Baptist Church, 40 Hillview Ave. Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until the time of service.

The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions in Mildred’s name may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
