Martin J. "Marty" Marshall

     Martin J. “Marty” Marshall, 78, of Williamsport passed peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his home.

     Born April 12, 1941 in Renovo he was a son of the late Thomas and Inez (Lucas) Maietta. Marty was a 1961 graduate of Renovo High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Serving aboard the U.S.S. Bennington and other vessels, he was part of Angel duty and earned Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals.  

     Marty was a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College with an Associates degree in Business Management; it was there that he met his loving wife of 49 years, Eva M. (Warring) Marshall, whom he married on August 11, 1970.  Marty was a natural salesman, working at KB Frozen Foods, CA Reed and then Shop-Vac until his retirement.  

     He had an easy going personality and enjoyed fishing, listening to music and cracking a joke. Marty could be found tending to his rose bushes which Eva would add to yearly for his birthday or sitting around a campfire enjoying s’mores with his family. He was a proud Dad, Pap, and overall family man who will be greatly missed.

     Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Cheryl A. Casbeer (David), of Linden, Stephen E. Walker (MaryJo), of Williamsport, Lori M. Harner (Joseph), of Montoursville, Lisa I. Stahl (Matthew), of South Williamsport, and Kirk M. Marshall (Ashley), of Williamsport; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Inez M. Uhlinger, of Alexandria, VA; brother-in-law, Earl Dowling; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Mae Dowling and a niece and nephew.

    A memorial service to honor the life of Marty will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.  The family will receive friends following the service.

     Continuing to show his love for animals the family asks that memorial contributions in Marty’s name may be made to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
