John Lesko Obituary

On Thursday Dec. 5, 2019, I met my Lord and Savior at the gate as he was waiting with opened arms for me. Oh what love, I left my earthly home for my heavenly home.
I leave behind my beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth Ramona (Way) Lesko, along with my precious daughters, Michele Marie Merrill, of Williamsport, and Christine Renee Sneeringer (Frank), of New Oxford; grandchildren, Melissa Goodell (Samson Astin), William Goodell (Asia), Madeline Stradley, Matthew Zuber, Travis Zuber; stepgrandchildren, Kirsten and Josh Sneeringer; nine great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; countless nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to my parents, Andrew and Elizabeth (Miller) Lesko, I was greeted at the gate by a sister, Vera Grace Getz; and grandson, Brice Goodell.
It was said anyone who ever met John A. Lesko, fell in love with him. He will be missed greatly because he loved life, enjoyed having fun and was a great fisherman.
John was born March 17, 1938, in Williamsport and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. John was formerly employed by Stroehmanns Bakery for 15 years. He attended North American Academy in Newark, Delaware, for professional truck driving and continued to drive as an owner and operator leased to T.C. Transport in Bellefonte for 17 years, until his retirement in 2001. John was a member of Quiggleville United Methodist Church for 47 years and more recently joined the Christian Church at Cogan Station and where he was a member of the Restful Warriors Bible Study for 13 years and the men's breakfast fellowship.
A memorial service to honor the life of John will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Christian Church at Cogan Station, 5904 Lycoming Creek Road, Cogan Station. Military honors will immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place in the Christian Church at Cogan Station Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse or Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
