Joanne L. (Snyder) Kunze

     Joanne L. Kunze, 88, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville.

     Born March 7, 1931, in Sunbury, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Anna A. (Hyman) Snyder.

     Joanne was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Kutztown State and Lycoming College for degrees in education. She was employed by South Williamsport Area School District as an art teacher for 25 years until retirement. Joanne was a Life member of the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

     Joanne had a love for all things art related; she could be found painting, sewing, making stained glass and pottery. She had a talent for watercolor painting and her artwork has been found in many exhibits throughout the years. Joanne was always a teacher, offering natural medicine and remedies to fellow friends and neighbors. Later in life she enjoyed the friendships and time spent while living at the Williamsport Home Apartments. She will be remembered for her sparkly, outgoing personality, giving spirit and the famous "Grammy Kunze" dance. 

       She is survived by her two children, Jacqueline Carson of Chester, Va., and Joni Ward, of Williamsport; four stepchildren, Robert C. Kunze, of Chicago, Cynthia Ann Zay, of Williamsport, Stephen R. Kunze, of Harrisburg, and Kurtis J. Kunze, of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Audrey Jane Newton (Wayne), of Montoursville.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Kunze and son, Eric Judy.

     Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
