Jean Lorraine McDermott, 83, of Williamsport, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 10, 1934 in Flint, MI, she was a daughter of Ralph and Rhea (Pease) Killing and one of nine children.

Jean was a 1952 graduate of Harbor Beach High School in Michigan. She was a loving mother and homemaker and retired from Wal-Mart in 2004. She was a member of the former Ascension Church and a current member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Jean enjoyed playing bingo and going on casino trips with her friends.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years John M. McDermott, whom she married February 27, 1954, five children John P. McDermott (Cindy) of Williamsport, Mary Ann Johnson (Steve) of Montoursville, Kenneth J. McDermott (Diane) of Cogan Station, Michael C. McDermott  (Michelle) of Trout Run, and Lori J. Rhone (Brad) of Cogan Station, 17 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9-9:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 19 in the portico at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 West Fourth St. Williamsport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Brian VanFossen officiating.  Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
