Helen Springman Obituary

Helen E. Springman, 89, of Williamsport died peacefully surrounded by family Monday, May 28, 2018 at AristaCare at Loyalsock. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Marvin F. Springman on October 19, 2016.

Born March 17, 1929 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late George and Eleanor I. (Woodley) Phillips.  Helen graduated from Montoursville High School and assisted her husband with their contracting business taking care of the bookkeeping and doing secretarial work for many years.  Being self-employed allowed Helen and Marvin the privilege to raise their kids by the fundamental values of faith, family and true love for one another.

A life-long and everlasting love relationship is what Helen lived everyday being married to Marvin. Helen was a life member of Hoffman United Methodist Church, where she was the secretary for many years and was a big supporter of Billy Graham, living her life according to the word of God.  She enjoyed attending Barbours Baptist Church as well.  Helen volunteered for more than 30 years, as part of a Visitation Ministry, visiting nursing home residents and those in the hospital, with her husband volunteering right by her side.

Helen was a devoted wife and loving mother and her family values showed throughout her life. She will be remembered for her awesome meals and delicious desserts, a time always cherished and spent with family gathering around her table.  Saturday night gatherings with good friends allowed for fun between the hard days of the work weeks and holiday traditions like Christmas at the Country Cupboard will always be fond memories.  Helen and Marvin spent many summer weekends at their cabin on Seneca Lake, and enjoyed taking bus trips with one another.

Helen enjoyed bike riding, watching for cardinals, polka music and working in her flowers beds. She loved red roses and hydrangeas in bloom, but cherished her family more than anything.

Surviving are a son, Gary F. (Cindy) Springman, of Montoursville; a daughter, Debra D. (Raymond) Lewis of Williamsport; five grandchildren; Jason (Natalie) Lewis of Montoursville, Joshua Lewis of Williamsport, Trish (Jay) Weaver of Loyalsock, Tamra (Brandon) Wallace and Jesse Lewis all of Montoursville; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister in law, Marsha Phillips of Montoursville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard E. Phillips and a granddaughter Tiffany Mae.
