Guilford R. "Gil" MacPhail, 86, of Williamsport died Friday, August 10, 2018, at Valley View Nursing Center.
Born July 24, 1932, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late John and Marion (Phillips) MacPhail. He and the former Greta P. Proctor were married on Oct. 30, 1954, and together have shared 64 years.
Gil was a graduate of English High School for Boys and had attended Northeastern College. He served as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Gil was employed by the former Litton (L3) for 36 years as an electrical engineer.
He enjoyed woodworking, building and traveling and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Gil was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church in Williamsport.
In addition to his wife, Greta, he is survived by three children, Thomas R.MacPhail, of New Hampshire, Stephen D. MacPhail, of Montgomery, and Robin S. Webb, of Virginia; four grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Webb, Andrew and Jessica MacPhail; one great-granddaughter, Caelyn; sister, Kay Wilbur, of California.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and daughter-in-law, Debbie MacPhail.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
