Grace E. (Weitzel) Getchen

Grace E. Getchen, 92, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at the Williamsport Home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ira Clifton Getchen Sr., on April 29, 1997. 

Born March 14, 1926, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Eva (Roller) Weitzel.

A graduate of Williamsport High School, Graceás most important job was tending to the needs of her family and others, and caring for her home. Grace was of the Christian faith and lived each day with integrity and strength, trusting in the Lord. She was Amazing Grace to all who knew her. 

Surviving are four daughters, Jane K. Moore, of Forest Hill, Md., Eva M. Young, of Lancaster, Nancy L. Thurston, of South Williamsport, and Deborah L. Holub, of Hunlock Creek; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Grace was preceded in death by a son, Ira C. Getchen Jr.; one brother and two sisters.

In keeping with Grace's wishes services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with burial in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
