Frank Velez

Frank Velez, 85, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at his home. 

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Johanson) Velez. 

Born May 27, 1932, in Mexico City, he was a son of the late Frank and Ann (Weatherston) Velez.  

Frank graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a successful career working in the power industry first as a service engineer and later as a senior executive in national and international sales and marketing. Following his retirement from Anchor Darling in 1998, Frank added business consulting and real estate sales to his professional endeavors. 

With all his travels for work, Frank was never happier than in the last thirty years of his life when he and Barbara settled in the community of Williamsport. In 1986 he became a member of the Rotary and was active in leadership positions and service projects. With Barbara, he joined the Trinity Episcopal Church and served on the vestry and several committees. Following his retirement, Frank became an avid golfer and had a disciplined gym routine, all with good friends and buddies. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Ann Velez, of Mitchells, Va., Kate Velez-Leddy (Jim Leddy), of Haverford and Alice Walker (David Borchardt), of Charlottesville, Va.; grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Leddy, of Santa Monica, Calif., Elizabeth (Edward) Brady, of West Chester and Taylor Walker (Georgie Nastos), of Houston, Texas; and a special Scottish cousin, Linda Weatherston, of Toronto, Canada. 

A memorial service to honor the life of Frank will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Wagner-Pizza, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at church. Burial will be held privately.
