Eugene S. Barnes

Eugene “Gene” S. Barnes, 84, of Williamsport died Thursday, October 11, 2018, at his home. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Reid) Barnes.

 Born May 2, 1934 in Williamsport, he was a son to Charles and Alma (Young) Barnes.

 Gene was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He served proudly in the United States Air Force for over 12 years. After honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force (Korean War Veteran), he was employed by Barnes Gulf Service Garage working with his brother.  He also worked at Giant Grocery Store in Williamsport. Gene was a life member of VFW Post #7863, Duboistown, a member of the American Legion Post #0104, Montoursville, and a member of the Polish Club.  He enjoyed riding his bicycle and making his daily coffee runs to his favorite east end coffee spots to socialize at all hours of the day. Gene was a great Husband and Father and will be greatly missed.

 Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Michael E. Barnes (Teresa) of Nisbet; a sister, Virginia Harrison of Montoursville; and two brothers Donald Barnes of Florida and Melvin Barnes of Williamsport.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; George, Kenneth, Robert, Marlin, Harold and sisters; Ada, Mary, Betty, Charlene and Dorothy.
