Dorothy Carroll Obituary

Dorothy Alice Carroll, 76, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at her daughter’s home. She formerly lived in Coventry, Rhode Island, Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida until recently moving to Cogan Station, Pennsylvania.

Born August 11, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island she was a daughter of the late William R. and Emerentienne E. (Levesque) Giguere.

Dorothy was a medical secretary who worked in the health care industry for over 40 years.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was active in the Magnolia Blossoms Chapter. Dorothy was a faithful member of First Coast Baptist Church, in Jacksonville, Florida where she traveled with the Pace-Setters on church trips and played the clarinet in the church band. She stayed connected in worshiping with her church family by digitally watching First Coast Baptist Church services on Sundays at her homes outside of the Florida area.

In her younger years she was an avid bowler.  She enjoyed crocheting and cheering on the New England Patriots and Florida Gators.

Dorothy was aware that time was a precious commodity and could often be found sharing moments with her family, playing cards, enjoying a Del’s Lemonade, a cake donut or occasionally sipping on a cold Bullfrog. She was a faithful sister who made a point to talk to Jeannine every day. She would give you the shirt off her back, the last dime in her pocket, or a listening ear when you needed a friend.

Surviving are her children, Lisa Fritts (Dr. Mark Hogge), of Cogan Station, and Timothy Carroll (Lori), of Tallahassee, Florida; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Porter (Jarrod) and Jake Englishbee; a great-grandson, Jackson Porter; her sister Jeannine Laurence (Paul, Sr.), of Fort Myers, Florida; a niece, Denise Mann (Graham), of  Voluntown, Connecticut; a nephew, Paul Laurence, Jr. (Shirley), of Fort Myers, Florida; and many loved great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Englishbee in 2015.

Services will be held privately 11 a.m. Friday, July 19 at the family home, officiated by Dorothy’s Pastor, Richard Edwards. All family and friends are invited.
