Donald L. “Don” Hamilton, 80, of Linden, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Evelyn M. (Hill) Hamilton.

Born November 21, 1938 in Linden, he was a son of the late George W. and Catherine R. (Pepperman) Hamilton.

Don worked as a machinist at Textron for 33 years before his retirement in 1999. He took up a second career as a maintenance man at Fort Bellefonte, where he and Evelyn spent their summers for over 11 years. In the winters, they would take time to relax in Mission, TX.

Don attended Christian Church at Cogan Station. He was a member of La Belle Vallee Lodge 232, F.&A.M. He loved hunting with his nephews, Dan and Bob Lockcuff and their motto was “feeding the troops.” Don also enjoyed fishing for flounder in Chincoteague, VA; which was a favorite vacation destination for him and Evelyn.  A man of many talents, Don could tell a story, joke, and make you laugh among being a talented woodworker. In his spare time he could be found watching NASCAR and boxing, and going to the tractor pulls.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Deborah A. Dodson of Loyalsock, Donna L. Savits of Watford City, ND, Dennis C. Hamilton (Kristie) of Montoursville;  eight grandchildren, Kelli, Linley, Christopher, Taylor, Karen, Dennis Jr., Danielle, and Emily, two step-grandchildren, Cody and Kyle; six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Lyla, Blake, Melanie, Sophie and JJ; two step-great grandchildren, Aubree and Hunter; four brothers, George, Joseph, William and David Hamilton; three sisters, Mary Albright, Alice Tubbs, and Shirley Selders, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Don was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy and John “Pete” Hamilton, and two sisters, Betty Yarison and Joyce Davis.

A funeral service to honor the life of Don will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 14 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Woodward Township Cemetery. A masonic service will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13 with a visitation to follow from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary.
