Clara L. (Knapp) Mowery

Clara L. Mowery, 79, of Williamsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Frederick E. Mowery.

Born October 23, 1939 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Alice (Sperow) Knapp.

Clara was a lifelong member of Hillview Baptist Church and Memorial Baptist Church. She was a devoted member who visited shut-ins delivering gifts and the good word of the Lord. Clara was a sweet and kind person; she would do anything for anyone and always put others first. She followed Joyce Meyers ministries closely.

Clara enjoyed teaching and was a preschool teacher and greeter, the young children always had a way of brightening her day, especially when they were introducing her to their parents. Clara had a passion for cooking, she was always watching the Food Network, or scouring her cookbooks or magazines for new recipes to try. She also enjoyed going to the YMCA to swim.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children; Debi, Charles “Chuck” Mowery of Loganton, Julia Freeman (John) of Wellsboro, and Michelle Hall of Williamsport, four grandchildren, one sister, Marie Sten (Peter) of Philadelphia, and close friends Sharon Glace and Linda Frakes.

A funeral service to honor the life of Clara will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 31 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport with Rev. Timothy R. Kinney Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Sanders.
