Barbara A. (Shotts) Messner

     Barbara A. (Shotts) Messner, 84, of Williamsport died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Williamsport Home surrounded by her family.

     Born June 13, 1934 in Blossburg PA she was the eldest daughter of the late William H. and Lucille M. (Manley) Shotts.

     She was a 1952 graduate of Elkland High School and a 1957 graduate of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing.

     Mrs. Messner was employed as a R.N. at the Jersey Shore Hospital for 8 years before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of Hillview Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed playing the piano and listening to classic church hymns.

     Surviving are two sons, Charles W. and Christopher A. Messner of Williamsport and two sisters, Sara Welshans of Linden and Jane Castle of Murrells Inlet SC.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon W. Messner on September 3, 2017.

     A funeral service to honor the life of Barbara will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday March 12 at Hillview Baptist Church, 40 Hillview Ave., Williamsport with the Pastor Tim Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport.
