Arthur L. “Art” Altemose, Jr., 92, of Williamsport, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at ManorCare South.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret B. Altemose on January 2, 2019.

Born November 20, 1926 in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Arthur L. Sr., and Beulah (Feller) Altemose.

Art served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church. He worked at Textron, formerly AVCO as a Senior Experimental Engineer for over 35 years until his retirement. Art was part of the Amateur Radio Club, was a HAM operator and had an engineer's mind above all else. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and was proud when he built his first computer.

From a young age Art was active in Boy Scouts and spent many summers at Camp Kline as an Explorers leader. He loved being outdoors and could be found hunting for deer and turkey.

He and his wife Margaret enjoyed tracking their genealogy throughout the years and sharing each other’s company.  They took cruises after retirement around Hawaii and to Alaska, took bus trips, traveled across the country and down south to pan for gold.

Surviving are a daughter Donna M. Daddona of Delaware County; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl L. Altemose of Rockville, MD; two grandchildren, Jaclyn Daddona (Bo Motlagh) of Philadelphia and Nicholas Daddona (Natalie) of Delaware County; and a brother, Clifford Altemose, of Hummelstown.

In addition to his wife and parents, Art was preceded in death by two sons, Russell L. Altemose, and Daniel Altemose.

A funeral service to honor the life of Art will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 24 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport with the Rev. Lenore Hosier officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from noon until the time of service at Sanders.
