Angelo L. “Louie” Martinozzi, 89, of Newberry, passed away surrounded by family Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at home. Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Jean B. (Peck) Martinozzi, who he wed on August 19, 1950.
Born January 23, 1930 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Rocco and Mary (Stanzione) Martinozzi.
Louie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He attended Williamsport Technical Institute where he earned a degree in Electronics. Louie started working for the Railroad in Newberry and later retired as a General Foreman from AVCO in 1991. Throughout his working career he maintained his own business, Martinozzi TV’s where he repaired and maintained televisions all around town.
Louie is a member of St. Joseph the Worker and was a member of the former Ascension Church. He was a member of The Sons of Italy, LeRoy O. Buck VFW Post #7863, and the Republican League.
He enjoyed gardening, boating, skiing and taking trips to the casino to roll the dice and play slots. Louie was an avid card player who could be found at Wednesday night poker or playing Set Back any day of the week. He will be remembered for his Friday night tradition of pizza and salad making, his abilities to fix anything, shopping trips to Harbor Freight, lawn mower rides around Newberry and being a friend to all. Above all else he was a hardworking and proud family man, who took great delight in being “Non” to his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his two daughters, Lynne M. Povish (Gary), of Williamsport/Indianapolis, In. and Karen A. Caschera (Michael A., Jr.), of South Williamsport; five grandchildren, Amanda J. Kaufman (Justin), Scottie A. Phillips (Maria), Stosh E. Povish, Michael A. Caschera, III (Natalie), and Gino V. Caschera; a step granddaughter, Lindsay L. Smith; five great-grandchildren, Breah, Madelynne, Abram, Iylah, and Elliott; two step great-grandchildren, Jett and Jade; a brother, Fiore Martinozzi (Leona), of Williamsport; and two sisters, Rose Heilman and Josephine Bush (Jim) of Williamsport and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Shebest and Mary Boatman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 24 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 West Fourth St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.
