Robert "Bob" E. Schneider

Robert “Bob” E. Schneider, of South Williamsport passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at Geisinger Muncy, the day before celebrating his 80th Birthday.

Born March 19, 1944 in Williamsport he was a son of the late Paul and Frances (Dincher) Schneider.

Bob was a 1963 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. Bob was employed at the former Ille Electric/Ceralyn for several years. Bob and his wife owned several rental properties in South Williamsport and was known for his compassion towards his tenants.

He was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church and follower of Jesus. 28 Years ago, Bob received a new lease on life after surviving a cancer battle.  Robert enjoyed traveling especially his winters in Florida with his wife. Many in the South Williamsport Community knew Bob for walking several miles a day. During his walks he made many friends along his routes and was known as “Walking Bob”. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Lucille C. (Dincher) Schneider; three children, Elaine McGovern (Michael) of South Williamsport, Frederick Schneider (Lana) of Oval, and Nicholas Schneider of Nisbet; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, George Schneider and sister, Shirley Naugle (Robert); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Schneider and sister Ann Wenner.

A memorial service to honor Bob’s life will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday March 21 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street Williamsport. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Bastress. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at Sanders.
