Carolyn Rae Loreman, 81, of Williamsport, died Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Williamsport Home.
Born December 1, 1942 in Marion, OH, she was a daughter of Earl and Gladys Seebold Newman.
Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was a member of the former St. Matthew Lutheran Church and current member of St. Michael’s Lutheran church.
Carolyn's journey began as a military wife, a role that saw her raising her children with grace and resilience across various countries. The challenges of frequent moves and deployments were met with her unwavering strength and loving support, creating a stable and nurturing environment for her family. Despite the transient nature of military life, Carolyn's ability to create a sense of home wherever she went was one of her most remarkable gifts. She loved raising her children.
A social butterfly, Carolyn thrived on connection and community. Carolyn enjoyed serving hot coffee and warm smiles to those visiting the coffee bar at Wegmans. From a young age she was active with The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and for many years a vital part of the former Newberry Lioness Club. Within her apartment complex, she loved holiday festivities; decorating for every occasion, orchestrating pizza parties and organizing bible studies.
Those who knew Carolyn will fondly remember her for the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. Her ability to find happiness in everyday moments was contagious, and she had a unique gift for making everyone around her feel special and loved.
Surviving are her four children, Kevin George (Tammy) of Easley, SC, Karen Rishcoff (David) of Mechanicsville, VA, Kenneth George (Heather) of Williamsport, and Kimberly Gibney of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Gale Woleslagle (Allen) of Nisbet and a brother, Garold Newman (Sheila) of MS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marilyn Kae Newman, her husband, Walter Loreman, Jr., and two grandsons, Thad Webster and Kyle Rishcoff.
A viewing will be held 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. A funeral service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Sanders. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
