William L. Phillips, 84, of Williamsport, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at UPMC Susquehanna. 


Born June 22, 1933, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Lewis C. and Margaret G. (Nau) Phillips.  


Bill was a 1951 Graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1955 Graduate of Lehigh University. He was the Vice President of Ziff-Davis Publishing Company, in New York City, for 25 years, and retired in 1993. 


Bill was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and was a staunch supporter of many local charities and places he was passionate about. He enjoyed shopping on Amazon, and being with his family. Bill especially cherished the times he spent with his cousin Kevin and his family.


Surviving are two brothers, David L. (Linda) Phillips, of Loyalsock, and Stephen L. (Patricia) Phillips, of Cogan Station; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and cousins.


In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Savarese) Phillips in 1988; a sister, Janice Blackwell; and special companion, Ann Felix.


A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of William will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport, with Father John J. Victoria, officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at church.
