Thomas Henry Richardson III, died at his home in New York City on July 17, 2016, at the age of 74.
Tom was born on May 7, 1942, in Williamsport, to the late Tommy and Helen (Potter) Richardson.
He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1960 and attended Lycoming College. He served in the U.S. Army as a cook and married the former Rochelle Dorfman of New York while stationed in Hawaii. Following his discharge the couple lived in Manhattan, where their son Scott was born in 1968. The marriage ended in divorce.
He worked for the New York Yankees organization and Continental Can Company, and had a long career with Smith and Wollensky's Steak House in New York City. He was a much loved and garrulous member of their team of veteran waiters. Tom suffered a heart attack in 2005 and eventually died of coronary failure.
He is survived by his son, Scott Richardson, of Miami Beach, Fla., and by his sister, Sharry Lukach, of NYC; his cousins, Marsha Davis, of Lewes, Del., Kenneth (Ann) Lundy, of Williamsport, Carol (William) McHenry, of Jersey Shore and Rick (Candy) Lundy, of Linden.
A graveside service to honor the life of Tom will be held 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
