As a Williamsport graduate I had both "Mr. & Mrs Dieffenbach" as teachers. I had a drawing class from "Mrs. Dieffenbach" where I learned that I could draw ANYTHING from an old shoe to nature or another person.
However as an Industrial Arts teacher later I had the privilege to work across the hall from Shirley. Always polite and with a smile, after Thanksgiving she would bring her basic Christmas card design to our graphics class for the students to print. Then later it was a thrill to receive that same card as a gift, only now with her personal rendering on it.
Each year as we prepare our own Christmas cards I think of your mom and what a wonderful person she was and the lessons I learned from her.
