Ruth L. Hockman

Ruth L. “Boo” Hockman, 89, of Williamsport died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Valley View Nursing Center.

Born March 20, 1928 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Leslie Arthur and Elizabeth Bennett Smith

Ruth graduated from Williamsport High School in 1946. She was employed by Hurr’s Dairy and Valley Farms and retired after more than 30 years of service.

Ruth was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Beth A. (Tim) Schoener and Patricia J. (R. D.) Slingerland, both of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Matthew (Tanya) Slingerland, Melissa (Travis) Ward, Kate (Joe) Marcus and Abby (Ashlin) Hollinger; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Lengel of Annville and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband R. Paul Hockman in 2017 and siblings, June Scott, John Smith, Joann Newcomer and infant siblings, Kay Frances and Richard Smith

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
