R. Paul Hockman, 92, of Williamsport died Friday, July 14, 2017, at Valley View Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 13, 1924, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Frank H. and Ethel R. Wagner Hockman.

Paul graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942 and Lycoming College in 1962 with a degree in business administration. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific Theater.

Paul retired from the PA Bureau of Employment Security after 24 years of service.

Paul’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping out at Slingerland Landscaping. Paul was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth L. (Smith) Hockman; two daughters, Beth A. (Tim) Schoener and Patricia J. (R. D.) Slingerland, both of Williamsport; four grandchildren,

Matthew (Tanya) Slingerland, Melissa (Travis) Ward, Kate (Joe) Marcus and Abby (Ashlin) Hollinger; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, James F. Hockman, of Chalfont; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Ethel Jeanne Hockman in 1923.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
